Pinterest

Have you heard of the new online craze Pinterest? Been seeing the pin it button everywhere on the Internet? I was introduced to the virtual pin board site in my Young Adult Literature class this past semester.  Our final project was creating a collection of books on Pinterest, which is basically a site where you create visual bulletin boards.  Pinterest allows you to create beautiful, colorful visual displays of items like books, recipes and more! It's a feast for the eyes.  Many websites have the pin it button next to pictures so if you see something you like, you click on it and it pins it to your board! You can also download the pin it button to your computer so whenever you see something inspiring you click on it to add it to your board.  In addition, Pinterest is a social networking site where you can follow other people's boards and re-pin the items they place on their boards to your own! It's great tool for libraries to make visual book displays and for school projects where students and teachers can create visually stimulating bulletin boards.  Pinterest inspires me every day when I look at all the beautiful pictures! Here is one of the boards my class created,  Dystopian Novels with Male Protagonists.  Sometimes it's hard to find YA books for guys and Pinterest is a great way to collaborate with others in your field since you can create boards and share them with colleagues to add to and edit.  Try it out!
